Guru Poornima was celebrated in Mumbai on Sunday, 12th July, 2009 at Sri E S Natarajan’s residence. Mumbai satsang members joined for a Nama Chanting session, followed by Bhajans for half an hour. Later,  Mrs  Vijaya Subramaniam, Kovaipudur and Mrs Saraswathi Sundaresan reminisced about the various occasions when they felt Sri Sri Guruji’s presence and his bountiful blessings in their lives.  The programme ended with Aarti and distribution of Prasad.



By the Grace of Sri Sri Swamiji, Guru Poornima celebration was held in Singapore on the 11th July 2009 at the residence of Mr.Ram/Mrs.Ranjani.  The programme started at 3.00 pm with chanting of Mahamantra followed by various songs mostly on Guru being sung by children and elders. Before concluding the programme at 5.00 pm, there was again Mahamantra chanting for a few minutes.

Before dispersing, the CD of the lecture on Sant Eknath by Sri Sri Swamiji, wherein He reiterates the importance and necessity of a Sadguru in everyone’s life. After a short break for snacks, all the devotees left for Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple for the usual weekly chanting of Mahamantra at the Anjaneyar sannidhi there from 6.30 to 7.30pm.




With the blessings of Sri Sri Swamiji, Nama sankirtan was done at Jakarta, Indonesia on 5th July 2009 on the occasion of Guru Poornima. The satsang was between 4.15 pm and 6.00 pm. Nama sankirtan was done between 4.15 pm and 5.00 pm, which was followed by Sri Sri Swamiji’s kirtan on Guru and an abhang on Guru Mahima. Then Sri Ramakrishna Hari of GOD Indonesia gave a short speech on Guru Mahima and Mahamantra was chanted again.

The satsang concluded with Maha Harathi and distribution of Prasadam. Sri Ramakrishna Hari had coordinated for this satsang. More than 20 devotees attended the satsang.

Ganesh Bai Gallada Jain School, Mint Street, Chennai


The Principal of this school wished to have a Mahamantra chanting session in their school for the welfare of the students on the auspicious day of Guru Poornima. At 8.40 am, the sessions started with chanting of Mahamantra for around 30 minutes. The students of 10th and 12th standards, who were the participants, sang beautifully in unison with enthusiasm. It was followed by a short lecture by Smt Guhapriya Karthikeyan wherein it was highlighted that the ideal learning becomes a pleasure and stress-free when one likes it. Ultimately, it brings out the best performance out of us. The sessions concluded at 9.30 am. There were more than 120 students who participated in these sessions.


TTV School, Mint Street, Chennai


This is a prominent school for the ‘not-so-privileged’ people of the society. A satsang comprising of Nama Sankirtan and lecture was held on the school ground for the 10th and 12th standard students between 10 am and 10.40 am. The lecture, by Sri Hareram of our Chennai Kendra, focused on self-confidence. The students rejoiced the lecture and chanted enthusiastically.  Around 75 students participated in this chanting.


Tagore Vidyalaya, Otteri, Chennai


Students from 1st standard to 5th standard participated in the satsang from 10.15 am to 11.15 am. After chanting of the Mahamantra for sometime, Sri Sathyanarayanan eloquently narrated few stories to instill the values of obedience and highlighted the importance of chanting the Mahamantra. We hope that the seeds sown in the young minds today would grow into a large tree one day. The school did not have a formal prayer session everyday. The Principal of the school has now agreed to chant the Mahamantra as their daily prayer. More than 300 students participated.


Kannada Sangam School, T Nagar, Chennai


With the devoted efforts of the school Principal, all the school children chanted the Mahamantra for a few minutes on this auspicious day.


Smt Guhapriya Karthikeyan and Smt Chitra Ganesh had coordinated for the above events.


 



Nama Sankirtan is being done at Sri Radha Rukmini Samedha Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple at Mangalur every day morning between 5.45 am and 7.00 am for the last five years. Sri Murugadass of Mangalur Kendra is coordinating for the Nama Sankirtan at this temple.


On the occasion of Guru Poornima, Sri Murugadass organized a Nagara Kirtan between 5.30 am and 7.00 am on the morning of 18th July 2008. The Nagara Kirtan started from the temple. The devotees took a photo of Lord Krishna, along with a Hare Rama banner in procession chanting the Mahamantra. They went through the main streets of Mangalur and culminated at the temple again. The devotees were given Prasadam after the Nagara Kirtan. There were more than 60 devotees for the Nagara Kirtan. Devotees from the nearby villages of Malayanur, Kaanjarangulam and Vinayaganandhal also participated in the Nagara Kirtan.


Guru Poornima was also celebrated in the villages of V Kalathur and Eravar, where more than 25 devotees participated.



Guru Poornima was celebrated at Sivakasi Namadwaar on 18th July 2008 on a grand scale. Between 7.00 am and 9.00 am, pooja was done to Sri Sri Swamiji’s “Padhukas” using flowers, 108 coins etc., Excellent decorations and flower arrangements were made to the “Padhukas” and it was a sight to behold for the devotees. Panchamirtham, Pongal and chocolates were kept as offerings to the “Padhukas” and it was distributed as Prasadam to all the devotees in the end. Devotees were chanting Nama with single pointed devotion and very happy to be part of the celebrations.


In the evening, between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm, Sri Kumaravel spoke in detail on Guru Mahimai. The devotees were spell bound by the speech. Then Smt Bhavani Karthikeyan spoke about the compassion showed by Sri Sri Swamiji to all the devotees. After the end of the lectures, the devotees were saying that, the way celebrations went on, makes them feel that Sri Sri Swamiji is with them always.



Guru Poornima was celebrated at Trichy on 18th July 2008. Nama Sankirtan was done at the residence of Smt Usha at Thillai Nagar between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm. More than 40 devotees participated in the Nama Sankirtan. A speech on Guru Mahimai was rendered and also some kirtans of Sri Sri Swamiji were sung by the devotees. The celebrations came to an end with the distribution of Prasadam to all the devotees.


Later between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm, Nama Sankirtan was done at Sri Krishna Temple. Lots of children participated in the chanting at this temple. There were around 50 devotees who participated. The celebrations came to an end with a speech on Nama Mahimai. The celebrations were organised by Sri Mahesh Babu and his wife Smt Rajakani.



Guru Poornima was celebrated in Mumbai on 18th July 2008. The celebration started with Hare Rama chanting for around 30 minutes. Then Smt Saraswathi spoke on Guru Mahima for around 15 minutes. She spoke excellently, which was appreciated by all those who were present.


    


After the speech, there was Bhajan for an hour, while included many songs on the greatness of a Guru. The celebrations concluded with Mangala Harathi for Lord Krishna and Sri Sri Swamiji. There were around 15 devotees who took part in this celebration.



Sevvur is a village near Arani, a town in Tiruvannamalai district. Nama Sankirtan is being organized at Arulmighu Angalaparameswari Temple by Sri Meganathan of Sevvur Kendra every Saturday for the last three years.


Guru Poornima was celebrated on 18th July 2008 at Sevvur by chanting the Mahamantra between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm at the temple. More than twenty-five devotees took part in the celebrations with lots of enthusiasm and faith. The celebrations came to an end with distribution of Prasadam to all the devotees.



Guru Poornima was celebrated at some places in Avadi and Kovvur between 17th July, 2008 and 20th July, 2008 by our devotees. On 17th July, Nama Sankirtan was done between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm at the residence of Smt Gunavathi in TNHB Colony at Avadi. In this more than 25 devotees had participated.


On 18th July, Nama Sankirtan was done at Sri Selva Ganapathy Koil, Moorthy Nagar, Avadi between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm. More than 25 devotees had participated.


On 19th July, Nama Sankirtan was done at Sri Karunakara Perumal Koil, Kovvur between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm. There were more than 80 devotees for the Nama Sankirtan. Nama chanting is going on at this temple on all Saturdays for the last 4 years, which is being organized by Sri Shanmugham.


On 20th July, Nama Sankirtan was done at two places. In the morning, between 9.30 am and 11.00 am, Nama was chanted at Sri Yoga Anjaneyar Koil, TNHB Colony, Avadi. More than 20 devotees participated. In the evening, between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm, it was done at the residence of Sri Shanmugham. Around 10 devotees participated.


Sri Shanmugham and Sri Sivakumar of Avadi Kendra coordinated for all the above events.
