The number twelve has a great significance for a spiritual aspirant. The Dwadhasakshari (consisting of 12 syllables) is considered as the most sacred mantra. Twelve is the number of Azhwars that descended on Earth to propagate the glory of the Divine Name and Form of the Lord, Srimad Bhagavatam consists of 12 cantos, and so on.

The Dwadasi day, Tuesday 23rd March 2009, is more special for us as, in the presence of our beloved Sri Sri Swamiji was inaugurated the new Namadwaar in the holy town of Sriperumbudur.  It’s the birth place of Sri Ramanuja, the foremost Acharya in the Sri Vaishnava Sampradaya.

Surrounded by lush green fields, the Sriperumbudur Namadwaar is architected in a unique manner.  The pillar in the center of the hall seems to hold the entire building, as if representative of the Mahamantra pillar that holds the entire Universe.  The beauty in this construction is that one can view the happenings of the hall sitting in any corner of the hall without being obstructed by the pillar.

Our Swamiji reached Namadwaar at 5:15PM and sat in the hall where about 50 devotees had already gathered. The program started with Sri Kesavan’s introductory speech on Sri Ramanuja. He expounded the glory of Guru Bhakti by quoting various incidents from the life of Sri Ramanuja and also beautifully sung few verses from the holy compilation, Naalayira Divya Prabandaham.

Then Sri Sri Swamiji rendered His divine speech on the Vaishanava Sampradhaya and the Glory of Sri Ramanuja. He concluded His speech saying “This place is so serene and hence the Namadwaar is being established here. Lighting a lamp is an easy task but one has to pour oil to it continuously. Likewise the sustenance of this Namadwaar is in the hands of devotees to ensure it functions properly in all coming years.”

Sri Sri Swamiji honored Sri.Balaraman and Smt.Balaraman who have dedicated their property in the holy town of Sriperumbudur for this noble cause.

The program concluded at 7 pm and Prasadam was distributed to all the devotees.

Mr.Shanmugaraj is the caretaker of this Namadwaar. His contact number is 9791124294. The visiting hours for Namadwaar  is 8-11 in the morning and 5-8 in the evening.

The complete address of Namadwaar is
