Sri Arivarasan of Pattinampakkam Satsang has been organizing Nagara Sankirtan during the Tamil month of Margazhi for the last few years. As being done in the previous years, on 13th January 2009, the last day of the month of Margazhi, a small idol of Lord Krishna, decked in a palanquin was taken in a procession along with a big photo of Sri Sri Swamiji, through the main streets of Srinivasapuram, Pattinampakkam. Sri Satyanarayanan and Sri Vasantharajan of GOD India, participated in this Nagara Sankirtan.

The Nagara Sankirtan started from Arulmigu Vangakadal Nayaki temple, which is on seashore at around 5.30 am. There were more than 100 devotees, which mainly included elders. Chanting the Mahamantra early in the morning, that to on the seashore was a wonderful experience for many devotees. The cool breeze, coupled with the sound of the Mahamantra and the splashing of the waves in the sea was a perfect setting for the Nagara Sankirtan. The breeze made the garlands on the Lord and Sri Sri Swamiji sway here and there.

Many of the residents in the locality welcomed the Nagara Kirtan by putting big “Kolams” on the road and showing “Maha Aarathi” themselves to the Lord and the photo of Sri Sri Swamiji. All the devotees chanted Mahamantra merrily and transversed through the main streets of the locality. The Nagara Sankirtan culminated at the temple again at around 7.30 am. After the end of the Nagara Sankirtan, Sri Vasantharajan gave a short speech for around 15 minutes about the importance of doing Nagara Sankirtan during the month of Margazhi. It was well received by the devotees. He was honoured with a shawl at the end of the lecture by the local organizers The Nagara Sankirtan came to a close with distribution of “Prasadam” to all the devotees who had participated.
